I’m in New York filming 2 videos for the artist series. I had the day off today so I decided to do a little photography tour of New York City.

In this video I’ll take you to see Saul Leiter’s Apartment, W. Eugene Smith’s Jazz Loft and Richard Avedon’s home/studio.

Filmed entirely on my Sony RX100 Mk IV in Slog2. Color graded in DaVinci Resolve.

I make videos covering famous photographers, photography techniques, composition, the history of photography and much more.

I also have a strong community of photographers who watch the show and we frequently do social media challenges for photographers to submit their own work. I feature the best and most interesting on the show when we do these so come check it out and get involved!

  10. Awesome video. What a contrast having renaissance contrapunctal music combined with New York! Did met with a GREAT Dutch photographer of our age this weekend, you might want to have a look at his work, he published 7 (I think) photobooks: http://www.martijnvandegriendt.nl/

,,,,,,,not sure which makes me more exciting, when UPS shows with a box from B&H or an AoP post! AoP videos are very needed, very important for unschooled enthused amateur photographers like me self. Thanks Ted

  17. ConceptsBySP says:

That tune is WICKED (along with the color grading). Did you compose the score yourself?

    Respect (from Zoo York City).

  18. Nigel Rumsey says:

That is quite geeky, but good fun!

I'm from London but I got to go to New York in 2013, and I walked around lower Manhattan for a week sure at any moment I was going to bump into Saul Leiter. God knows what I would have said had I done so, but just to get a shot of the great man would have more than made my trip.

He died 6 months after. I'm not someone who's generally effected by the death of people I don't know but in that instance I was really saddened.

Looking forward to more of the artist series.

    thanx πŸ™‚

  31. how much do you get paid per month in NYC? how do you start your own photography company?

  32. Ted you beguiling tease: don't keep all these good people in the dark – tear back the damn curtain and spill how you did this: gear, edit etc Come on!

  33. Hi Ted, your video documentary and photo tour of NYC was really well done as I can tell you put quite a bit of time into the shooting and editing. Background music was a great choice also, clearly getting across the correct mood for the video. What more can you say about the East Village and the infamous, and caring, Saul Leiter. http://www.howardgreenberg.com/artists/saul-leiter.
It's hard to believe Saul's only been away from us for 3-1/2 years now. It seems much longer than that to me. πŸ™ I subscribed to your channel Ted, and liked this video because I was so moved by it…Thank you for spending the time to create this work of art for all to come and peruse… Sincerely, Luis Z πŸ™‚ https://goo.gl/efC5Vy
